Abstract In this study, the spalling properties of polypropylene reinforced concrete were evaluated by the restrained ring-type test. Experimental results show that polypropylene fiber reinforced specimens show lower overall water vapor pressure than plain specimens, but higher restraint stresses. This is thought to be due to the fact that the water vapor pressure was relaxed due to fiber melting, but a high thermal stress was applied.
