Abstract In this study, water vapor pressure and expansion stress generated in concrete during heating were evaluated. It was confirmed that water vapor pressure and expansion stress occurred differently according to the compressive strength of concrete. In addition, the water vapor pressure and the expansion stress of concrete are considered to be a major factor in the spalling of high strength concrete.
