ABSTRACT
The compressive strength and polymerization reactivity of fly ash based geopolymer are analyzed with respect to changes in the Si/Al ratio calculated from a combination of the amorphous Si and Al contents of fly ash and an alkaline activator. Experimental results confirm that the compressive strength of the fly ash based geopolymer is considerably affected by the Si/Al ratio. The fly ash based geopolymer also shows high polymerization reactivity at the early age. Although the direct correlation between the polymerization reactivity of the geopolymer and the development of compressive strength could not be confirmed through an X-ray diffraction analysis, it could be confirmed through scanning electron microscopy micrograph.
